Buhari Cannot Save Godwin Emfiele Because He Is No Longer President – Sam Omatseye

Sam Omatseye, a well-known novelist, in a post on his Facebook page, reacted to the arrest of the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele saying even former President Muhammadu Buhari cannot save him. He stated that Emefiele had the backing of former President Buhari but now Buhari can no longer save him because he is not the President.

Recall that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered the arrest of the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele for interrogation of his term as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the reason for the new Naira policy which was not an economy policy. He made Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi the acting Governor.

Omatseye alleged that Godwin Emefiele thought he was the utmost beneficiary of the new Naira policy, but his plan backfired after Buhari left office as President and President Tinubu didn’t have the same perception as Buhari. However, Sam Omatseye strongly believes that Emefiele’s policy was not an economy policy and that is why President Tinubu ordered for his arrest and interrogation.

He said, “Who will save him now? Not Buhari, who stood firmly by him when he went full-throttle with his scheme. He knew it was not an economic policy. It was a gang-up against one man. He thought he was the ultimate beneficiary. He is not guiltless without Buhari, who defended him to the end.”
