Nigerians have been reacting to the statement made by Jamiu Abiola, one of the children of MKO Abiola after he was asked to reveal if he believes that the 2023 presidential election was free and fair. While speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Jamiu responded that Nigeria won’t be at peace currently if the people believed that the election that produced Bola Tinubu as President was rigged. He claimed that Nigerians have accepted the outcome of the election, adding that they wouldn’t have accepted it if the process wasn’t free and fair.
In the interview, he also made it clear that the 2023 presidential election was free and fair to some extent, adding that the controversial 25% of votes cast in FCT wouldn’t be an issue if the election was rigged to favor a candidate.
He said, “Nigerians wouldn’t have accepted the result. election was rigged and people were sure of it, we wouldn’t have had peace in this country. The police is not going out there to clamp on anything; people have accepted the result.”
