Former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, weekend, x-rayed the outgoing administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and declared that he has not lived up to expectations.
The PDP leader, in a chat with select journalists at this Ikoyi office, also noted that in all sectors of the country, the Buhari administration has not impacted positively the lives of Nigerians.
His words: “My personal assessment is that he failed, not completely in every sector, but if you do an examination and say you must have a minimum of 33%, then you can go to the next class, but they did not attain that 33%.”
“I can give them maybe about 5%, even the 5% requires a lot of retrospection. The most important thing you must guarantee to your people, as a government, is the security of lives and property, who is safe now?”
“So it is very very disheartening and heartbreaking that he failed in his number one job, which is to guarantee security of lives and property.”
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has granted pardon to 115 inmates serving various jail terms across correctional centres in the state.
This was disclosed by the Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Legal Matters, Barrister Saleh Samanja, while presenting a report on strategies adopted by the Committee in selecting the benefiting inmates.
According to the Chairman, the Committee had visited correctional centers in Potiskum, Gashu’a and Nguru and came up with a listed of inmates to be freed.
The benefiting inmates are mostly those with minor offences who are serving lesser jail terms, as well those jailed with option of fine, among others.
“The inmates were very happy and they have assured us that with this act of benevolence and mercy extended to them, they will never go back to their bad ways”, he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari has emphasized the need for parents and society to preserve the core cultural values and identities that have always guided what is acceptable ways and character.
In his Children’s Day message, Buhari urged parents and children to hold onto the ancient truths of integrity, honesty, knowledge and hard work in spite of the changing times, saying these landmarks remain the pillars of destiny.

The governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced the dissolution of his cabinet ahead of the inauguration of a new government on May 29.
This decision comes as the governor prepares to hand over the reins of government to the governor-elect, Alhaji Umar Namadi.
The dissolution of the cabinet was revealed by Badaru according to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal D. Sankara.
“We have accomplished significant milestones during our tenure, and I am proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by my cabinet members,” Governor Badaru Abubakar stated.
“As we prepare for the handover, I have taken the decision to dissolve the cabinet to allow the incoming administration to commence their work promptly,” the statement said.
