It is no longer news that Nigeria has been eliminated from the ongoing U17 AFCON, taking place in Algeria.The Golden Eaglets failed to get the better of West African rivals Burkina Faso as they were beaten by two 2 goals to 1, in the quarter final stage of the competition.
Two goals from Abubakar Camara left Nigeria chasing the game until Abubakar Abdullahi pulled one back for the eaglets. All efforts to equalize proved abortive, meaning the Eaglets are out of the competition and the 2023 U17 World Cup.
And if Nigerians were disappointed with the development, what could be said of the whole squad? According to BRILA FM, the team was said to be very emotional as they reportedly cried and find it difficult to eat.
Through its social media account, the sports radio station revealed what the team’s captain had said. According to Precious Williams, “Players have been crying all night. It was difficult to eat, we could have skipped our meals, but team officials compelled it because of rules.”
