Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has made a shocking revelation about the academic qualification of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku, in a tweet on Sunday, claimed that Tinubu’s degree from Chicago State University is fake, adding that the certificate belongs to a different person altogether.
The former vice president’s claim comes after an investigative journalist, Jackson Ude, questioned the authenticity of Tinubu’s degree from the American university.
According to him, Tinubu went to the university in the late 70s and the school has no records of his attendance, as was confirmed by the registrar of the institution.
Reacting to Ude’s claim, Atiku said, “I can confirm that though he is touted to have a ‘great education’, Bola Tinubu does not have an NYSC certificate. He does not have a certificate from the University of Chicago, only a certificate of attendance, which anybody can obtain.”
He also added, “You cannot establish a chain of evidence following that certificate of attendance, therefore, the paper is worth less than the paper it is written on.”
The revelation by Atiku has stirred reactions on social media, with many calling for a thorough investigation into Tinubu’s academic records.
Although Tinubu is yet to respond to the allegation, it remains to be seen whether he will provide any evidence to refute Atiku’s claim.
Meanwhile, this development might have serious implications for Tinubu’s political career, especially if the allegations are proven to be true.
It is important for public officials to be transparent and honest about their academic records, as it speaks to their character and ability to serve the people effectively.
The onus is now on Tinubu to either provide evidence to substantiate his claims or face the consequences of being associated with a fake degree.
