Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry spoke to the youths at a recent Impact Academy, live in Accra, Ghana. He s spoke to the youth about why they need to stay out of waywardness and retaliation because they were corrected. The things their parents ask them not to do, they decide to do it because they want to revenge and retaliate. He then told the story of how he told his father he wasn’t going to school again because of what he did to him.
He said, “Many years ago, my father would send me to school and then I will go to school and answer, “Present Sir” and why the teachers were looking this way or that way, I will pack my things and go out of school. I didn’t go out but I was just wondering about. When my father discovered I wasn’t actually going to school, he brought me back to school. He was a militant man but he is passed on to glory now.”
“My father requested that they call the school assembly and they did. I was in Primary School (Standard School) in 1951. He told them to mount me on their back and he gave me thorough beating on my buttocks. He said that he taught need a lesson I, in my reaction also wanted to teach him a lesson. I them told.him that I won’t go to school again. I was so stubborn when I was young.”
“The following day I told him I was not going to school when he asked and told him I want to be a farmer. Them he gave me his cutlass and told me to go to his farm. In his farm, he had planted yam, cocoa and all that. I caught all the branches because I wanted to retaliate to my father. The following day, I said I was going back to the farm and it was like Father and Son were fighting.”
Finally, he said, “He was thinking about my future and I was thinking about no future. If I didn’t repent of that and come out of that, I wouldn’t be here today. All those things you are doing, all the waywardness and bad reactions in life, they will ruin us.”
