INEC declares Fintiri winner of Adamawa Guber poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Ahmadu Fintiri as the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election.

The Returning Officer, Muhammed Melee, declared Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party winner on Tuesday after polling 430,861 votes to defeat his major counterpart Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress who polled 398,788.

Court Stops PDP From Suspending Wike

The Federal High Court in Abuja has barred the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from suspending or expelling Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and State Executive Members of the PDP in Rivers State over alleged anti-party activities.

In his judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the fears of Wike and other members of the PDP were well founded, and that suspending or expelling them will amount to the breach of their rights to freedom of association.

Buhari meets traditional, religious leaders in Makkah

President Muhammadu Buhari has hosted religious and traditional leaders from across the six geopolitical zones of the country at an Iftar dinner (breaking of fast) as part of his ongoing official engagements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the end of the event, President Buhari underscored the policy of his administration to develop all parts of the country without discrimination.

JAMB extends 2023 direct entry registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the closing date for the ongoing 2023 Direct Entry (DE) registration by one week.

DE registration exercise started on Monday, March 20, and was billed to end on Thursday, April 20. It has now been extended by one week, starting from Friday, April 21.

This was contained in a statement released earlier today by JAMB spokesman, Fabian Benjamin.
