Awka Comment: Stop insulting Yoruba race, Afenifere warns Iwuanyanwu

The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, has warned the Chairman of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council of Elders, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to stop insulting the Yoruba race.
Afenifere was reacting to the comment made by Chief lwuanyanwu, at an event in Awka, Anambra state, which reportedly ridiculed the Yoruba race.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the group’s National Organising secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, condemned what he described as Igbophobia, saying Nigerians should conquer evil with good.
Igbo were targeted during the presidential and governorship elections in Lagos, leading to fears of an ethnic uprising.

But Obasanjo, who spoke in Awka during the one-year anniversary of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, said people should strive to be friendly with those who are afraid of them.
Also speaking at the forum, an elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawnu, described those promoting anti-Igbo sentiments in Lagos as political rascals.
He said there is no controversy between the Igbo and Yoruba.

LAGOS – Calls for the suspension or outright sack and probe of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yabuku, have reÂceived support from analysts who spoke with Sunday IndeÂpendent on the matter.
The analysts noted that so many controversies have arisÂing as a result of the conduct of the 2023 elections for failing to meets the guidelines of the electoral body itself and the Electoral Act.
They argued that it would be necessary for an independent probe of the allegations that have been made against the head of INEC.

Following the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president-elect, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has accused the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo of lobbying for his next job.
Atiku accused Keyamo of trying to suppress and abuse the rights of innocent Nigerians who oppose the alleged fraudulent victory of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Speaking through his spokesman, Frank Shaibu, Atiku described Keyamo as a jobless Minister who abandoned his duties as a minister and opted for Tinubu’s spokesman.
