Award-winning singer, Rema has become the artist with the Most Viewed Music Video on YouTube in 2022.
The 22-years-old beat his senior colleagues, Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel and others to win the title.
Rema, whose career saw a huge soar in 2022, took the number one and two spot for most viewed music video on YouTube. His hit songs Calm Down has 313 million views, while the remix featuring Selena Gomez has 204 million views.
Burna Boy’s Last Last came 3rd with 144 million views, followed closely by, Kizz Daniel’s Buga which garnered over 110 million views.
Rema hits 1 billion Spotify streams
Days back, Kemi Filani reported that Rema, had become the latest Nigerian artist to exceed 1 billion Spotify streams across lead credits.
The Mavins singer, who had a fantastic year in 2022, had achieved 1 billion listens across lead credit on Spotify.
Afrobeats song “Calm Down,” remix, which was influenced by Selena Gomez, is one of the biggest of 2022.
The song is the fastest to reach this milestone, surpassing 300 million views on YouTube in just 10 months with the single.
“Calm Down” has topped one billion streams on all platforms. The song also debuted in the UK Official Singles Top 10 charts.
Rema reacts as Barack Obama includes him in 2022 music playlist
Kemi Filani recalls that Rema had reacted after former president of America, Barack Obama, released his 2022 music playlist, which included his song. Rema’s hit track, Calm Down, made the cut.
Reacting, Rema tweeted,
“I feel the same way I did in 2019 when I saw my Name on this list, I’m very grateful,”.
Every year, the former president always shares his favorite playlist in the year. While American artistes always top his music playlist, the former president is still fond of African music, especially Nigerian music.
Three songs from Nigerian stars – Burna Boy, Rema and Ayra Starr made it to his favourite music of 2022. Obama listed 25 songs as his favourite for the year ending in a few days, and Burna Boy’s Last Last, Ayra’s Rush and Rema’s Calm Down made the list from Nigeria.
As always, Beyonce made it to the list, including, Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, Rosalia and others.
The ex-US president revealed his favorite list via his official Twitter page on Saturday, saying he enjoyed sharing the list.
“I always enjoy sharing my end of year music playlist with all of you — and this year we heard a lot of great songs. Here are some of my favorites,” Obama wrote.
“Are there any songs or artists I should check out?” He asked.
