Bernardo Silva will stay at Manchester City – Manel Estiarte

Manel Estiarte, a member of the Manchester City staff and Guardiola’s right-hand man, put to rest rumours of a possible arrival of the Portuguese midfielder at Barca.

The signing of Bernardo Silva by Barca seems practically impossible with less than two days to go until the market closes. The Portuguese midfielder is the icing on the cake that Xavi Hernandez wanted to complete the squad, but all indications are that he will not end up arriving at Camp Nou.

Barca need to reduce their wage bill to achieve financial fair play and also pay a high transfer fee to Manchester City, so the signing of Bernardo Silva is very complicated. In addition, Manel Estiarte, a member of the Citizen club staff and Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man, wanted to settle the rumours on ‘RAC1’ and assured that the Portuguese will remain in the team and will play today against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

“There is nothing. Bernardo Silva is playing and will stay here,” said Manel Estiarte, making the signing of Bernardo Silva almost impossible.

It is worth remembering that Guardiola himself said after the ALS charity friendly that Bernardo Silva liked Barcelona after being asked if the Portuguese would leave his team and in the run-up to the Nottingham Forest game he said again that he was not sure what was going to happen with the midfielder’s future. If Manel Estiarte’s latest comments are anything to go by, Bernardo Silva will not be joining Barca this summer.
