Nigerian singers, Tems and Fireboy DML, have over time, established themselves in the Nigerian music industry as two of the most outstanding singers the industry has ever produced, following how they were able to smash four music records in less than 7 months of 2022.
Tems and Fireboy DML have been able to gain a lot of recognitions both on local and international grounds, following how they were able to inspire their audiences with their songs. Both music stars have been impacting the music industry with their songs for quite some time, but were able to achieve fame and break some records this year through their songs, “Essence” and “Peru” respectively.
And so, following how these artistes were able to step up their games in the Nigerian music industry this year, I have decided to enlighten Nigerians with four records Tems and her colleague, Fireboy DML have broken in less than 7 months of this year.
Four records Tems and Fireboy DML have broken in the Nigerian music industry this year include;
1. Afrobeat singer, Tems, became the first Nigerian artiste to make the first entry at the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Such record broken by the singer was as a result of her feature in American singer, Future’s song, “Wait for you”.
2. Tems on the 26th of June, broke another record in the Nigerian music industry, by becoming the first female artiste in Nigeria to bag two awards. The singer received the Best International Act and the Best Collaboration awards at the BET 2022 awards.
3. Afrobeat singer, Fireboy DML, broke a record in the Nigerian music industry few months ago, after his song, “Peru”, became the first Nigerian solo song to top the Afrobeat UK chart for four weeks.
4. Fireboy DML on the 26th of June, smashed another record in the Nigerian music industry, by becoming the first Nigerian artiste to perform on the main stage of the BET awards. The singer at the BET 2022 awards, thrilled his fans with his songs, “Playboy” and “Peru”.
And so, while we continue to thank these singers for their outstanding contributions towards making sure that the Nigerian music industry is well recognised internationally, we also call on the veteran artistes in the industry to never relent in their dreams of bringing up more stars in the industry.
