The grandson of former Nigerian President, Shehu Shagari has taken to his official Twitter page to react after former Nigerian Deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu alongside his wife were allegedly arrested by security operatives in the UK for organ harvesting.
Earlier today, it was reported by Punch Newspaper Ike Ekweremadu alongside his wife, Beatrice were charged with conspiracy to facilitate the travel of a homeless 15-year-old boy picked from the streets of Lagos under false pretence into the UK to allegedly harvest the child’s organs. As it stands, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife have been remanded in custody and they are to appear in court by July 7.
While reacting, Bello Shagari who is also a youth activist, said; “the news of the “2 Nigerians” arrested by the UK Police says a lot about the so called Nigerian leaders. These are the kinds of people who we entrust with making our laws and policies, and presiding over our governments. It is just shameful!”
