The First African Player To Be Inducted Into The Premier League Hall Of Fame

The Premier League Hall of Fame was founded in 2020 to recognize the achievements of the great Players that played in the English Top-flight League.

The first set of Hall of Famers were inducted last year with Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Dennis Bergkamp and David Beckham being the inaugural Hall of Famers. 

This year, Wayne Rooney and Patrick Vieira were the first Players to be inducted before Sergio Aguero, Didier Drogba, Vincent Kompany, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes and Ian Wright were later inducted.

Across the two times that former Premier League Stars have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, European Players dominated the inductees but Didier Drogba become the First African Player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the greatest League in Europe.

The Ivorian Forward who helped Chelsea to win the English Premier League title 4 times winning it consecutively in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 Seasons is the African Player with most goal in the English Premier League. 

Didier Drogba spent 2 separate spells at Chelsea totaling to 9 Season. He made 254 League Appearances for the West London club. He scored 104 goals and made 54 assists. The Ivorian Forward also won the Golden Boot twice.

In his two best seasons at Chelsea, He scored 29 goals in 32 league games during the 2009/10 season and scored 20 Goals in 36 league games in the 2006/07 season.

He’s the second ever Chelsea Player to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame after Frank Lampard, and the only Player to make the cut this year.
