The Sad Story Of WWE Superstar Kamala Whose Two Legs Were Amputated Before He Eventually Died

James Arthur Harris, commonly known by his ring name “Kamala” was a well-known professional wrestler in the ’80s and ’90s. Besides Kamala, he performed under ring names such as “Bad News Harris,” “Gigante Kimala,” “Sugar Bear Harris” and “The Mississippi Mauler.”

Kamala wrestled some of the greatest wrestlers in his time. Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, The Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Andre The Giant and Yokozuna were some of his opponents. He usually dressed in a native African attire which comprised a mask, loin cloth and war paint. He also carried a shield and a spear and walked to the ring barefooted.

Kamala was an entertaining wrestler and he had some amazing moments which wrestling fans will always remember. However, his wrestling career was cut short due to health issues.

His left leg was amputated in 2011 as a result of complications from diabetes. He also had his right leg amputated a few years later.

At some point in his life, Kamala made chairs and sold them and he also depended on disability support in order to earn a living for himself. He died in August 2020. Cardiac arrest, diabetes and COVID-19 were all said to have contributed to his death.
