Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga and President William Ruto’s daughter Nadia Cherono Ruto were among key figures who accompanied President William Ruto on his trip to China on Monday.
Oburu, who is Raila Odinga’s elder brother, was pictured alighting from the plane together with President Ruto after he touched down in China on Tuesday. Also present was Ruto’s adopted daughter Nadia.

It was not immediately clear the role that Oburu will be playing in the trip, something that has attracted reactions from Kenyans who have lashed out at Ruto.
“Why is Ruto forcing himself into a marriage that won’t bear any fruit,the divorce is automatic even if he decides to please all the in laws. He better learn that his partner is a perennial traitor oblivious of any effort to make him stay in a marriage” stated one user.

This comes just a day after President William Ruto appointed ODM leader Raila Odinga’s close relative to a plum government job.
Jaoko Oburu Odinga, a nephew of the former prime minister, became the latest beneficiary of the broad-based government. Jaoko, who is also Oburu Odinga’s son was appointed as Adviser, Economic Empowerment and Sustainable Livelihoods.
He is set to hold the position for a period of three years, adding to President Ruto’s growing growing number of advisers. The appointment was made through a letter from the office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Mr Felix Koskei. The letter states that the appointment is on “Local Agreement Terms” and is effective March 2025.
