The top story of the paper reads: How jobs and pay crises hit families. Its reported that the employment rate in the country Kenya, has declined from 4.9 per cent in 2019 to 4.4 % in 2024. Many families have been hit hard following the shrinking pay for employees and job cuts hence decline in purchasing power for households.
The Standard
The title of the paper states: Road tax tyranny. Kenyan’s are expected to face a new burden on taxation as government plans to introduce road tolls that could generate Sh4.8 trillion, but at what cost. Critics have alleged that it’s another financial strain on taxpayers as they are likely to be imposed to another taxation.
Taifa Leo
The Swahili language newspaper top story focuses on how the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit banned politics from the church pulpit hence Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua denied a chance to speak to the congregation during the church service in Nairobi yesterday. Ole Sapit also banned funds drive functions in the church by the politicians.
The Star
The headline of the paper focuses on Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) that is said to be targeting small scale traders for taxation as the government is exploring ways of getting revenue and easing burden to salaried individuals and corporates.
