I’ll Move On To Other Things

Nairobi Senator and ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has spoken out about claims regarding his attendance at President William Ruto’s meetings in Nairobi.

The senator made it clear that his presence at these events does not determine his political future.

“I have no agreement that forces me to attend meetings with the President.

My job is in the Senate, where I serve the people who elected me,” Sifuna stated.

Recently, reports surfaced suggesting that Sifuna had avoided President Ruto’s development tours in Nairobi.

Some critics argued that his absence could affect his chances of re-election.

However, the senator dismissed these claims, saying his political career will be judged by his performance, not by how many times he appears with the President.

“People should not measure my work based on who I meet or don’t meet. If Nairobi residents feel I have delivered, they will re-elect me.

If they think otherwise, they will choose someone else,” he added.

Sifuna, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has been vocal about his criticism of President Ruto’s leadership.

He strongly believes that Ruto will not win the 2027 election, even if he gets Raila’s support.

“Even if Raila Odinga were to back Ruto in 2027, he would still lose.

The current administration has failed to deliver on important matters affecting Kenyans,” he said.

The senator has also hinted that he may not seek re-election in 2027.

He explained that politics is not a lifelong career for him, and he is open to stepping away when his term ends.

“If I decide not to run again, it will not be because of pressure from anyone.

Holding a political seat is not a do-or-die matter for me. I will be happy to move on to other things,” he remarked.

Sifuna’s remarks come at a time when political tensions are rising ahead of the next general election.

His statements reflect his firm position on governance and his belief that leaders should be judged by their work, not their political appearances.
