Lawmakers allied to President William Ruto are set to gather at State House, Nairobi, on Friday for a high-level Kenya Kwanza Coalition Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting.
The session, chaired by President Ruto alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, is expected to shape the coalition’s legislative agenda and key government priorities.
Among the key issues on the table is the reconstitution of parliamentary departmental committees, a move seen as crucial in strengthening Kenya Kwanza’s influence in the National Assembly.
The meeting comes at a critical political moment, as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga concludes a series of consultative meetings before announcing his next political move.
Following his unsuccessful bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship, Raila has hinted at a potential working relationship with Ruto, with some of his allies already endorsing the idea.
During the Kenya Kwanza PG meeting, MPs may also discuss the possibility of deepening cooperation with Raila’s ODM party beyond the existing broad-based government arrangement.
