Cheboi, a staff member at Iten County Referral Hospital, went missing after stating he was going to visit a female friend allegedly involved in alcohol sales in the area.

Area Police Commander Peter Mulinge confirmed to TV47 the incident, stating that the area chief reported the discovery of Cheboi’s body to him.

Mulinge said investigations into Cheboi’s death led to the arrest of a local brewer, who was the last person seen with him.

She is currently detained at the Iten Police Station as investigations into the 48-year-old doctor’s death continue.

Was Simion Cheboi’s family looking for him?

Alice Chepchumba Chebii, the deceased’s wife, told TUKO.co.ke in a previous interview that she had been searching for her husband for days without success.

Chebii expressed concern, saying it was unlike her husband not to return home.

The worried mother of three recalled the last day she saw her husband, saying she later learned he had visited a longtime friend before disappearing.

Chebii said that when she returned home in the evening with her eight-year-old daughter, her husband was not there. She was not initially concerned, expecting him to either return or inform her if he planned to stay out.

The deceased’s wife said she became worried when her husband had not arrived home by 9 p.m. She said her calls to him went unanswered before his phone eventually went off.

“I woke up at midnight and he was not in bed. I tried to call his phone, but he was not picking up. An hour later, it went off. I returned to sleep in the hope he would come back that night. He did not,” she said.

Chebii said she eventually reported the matter, hoping to receive assistance in locating her husband.
