The former DP has declared that he has the strategy to defeat him ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During the launch of Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP), Gachagua exuded confidence that he and his allies would expose Ruto and ensure Kenyans reject him on the ballot.

Gachagua accused Ruto of misleading Kenyans and vowed to ensure his influence diminishes before the next election cycle.

“We have his remedy. We know him… don’t worry. The day we get on top the way he did in the end, we’ll dismantle him. We will expose him properly. When people see him, they will tell him, “We don’t want your lies,” and we’re getting there,” Gachagua declared.

He outlined a timeline for their campaign against Ruto, stating that by 2026, Kenyans would have seen through the president’s alleged deception.

“We are giving him this year, 2025. By 2026, no one in Kenya will listen to his lies. We’ll make sure of that,” he added.

What is Gachagua’s advice to Gen Zs

In a notable shift, the former DP turned his attention to Kenya’s Gen Z voters, urging them to move from online activism to actual political participation.

He praised their activism on social media but urged them to take their efforts a step further by participating actively in the electoral process.

Gachagua observed that the real transformation of the country would only happen at the ballot by voting.

“These Gen Z are your remedy at the ballot box. Gen Z is about 9 million. Our young people, we urge you, you are doing a very good job on the smartphone. Very good job. But that is not enough. The real transformation of this country will happen at the ballot box,” he said.

Gachagua called on young people to register as voters and show up early on election day to cast their ballots.

“So we urge Gen Z to get ID cards and register as voters. Then, on election day, come out early, by 3am, be in the queue. When you vote, record it on your smartphone and mobilise the rest of us. We are in your hands. You are the real liberators of this country. We will support you because we have some experience and exposure, but the energy and knowledge lie with Gen Z. We’ve committed we’ll work together,” he added.

Why did Gachagua thank Ruto

Earlier, Gachagua reflected on his 2024 impeachment, expressing gratitude to Ruto for the event.

Gachagua noted that his removal from office unexpectedly bolstered his political influence and popularity among Kenyans.

He observed that, contrary to diminishing his political standing, the impeachment enhanced his capacity to mobilise supporters nationwide.

Despite losing the privileges associated with his former position, Gachagua emphasised that his political acumen has deepened, enabling him to command significant public support.
