Nairobi – Wiper Party leader and Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has raised the alarm over the government’s ambitious plan to vaccinate 22 million cattle across the country.
In a hard-hitting statement on Friday, November 15, Kalonzo accused President William Ruto’s administration of advancing a sinister foreign agenda.
The former vice president warned that the program poses severe risks to both livestock and humans.

“We wish to state at the very outset that the proposed vaccination program has all the markings of a sinister foreign agenda. It does not augur well for the country’s pastoralist group or groups and for this country as a whole,” Kalonzo stated.
He alleged that the vaccines, developed abroad, have been rejected in other countries, including the US, and could genetically alter livestock with devastating consequences.
“Let everyone know that we will resist them to the very end. We ask our fellow Kenyans to join us in opposing the proposed vaccinations, which clearly hurt our animals and endanger our people,” Kalonzo declared.
What are long-term effects of the vaccine per Kalonzo
He further warned that after multiple generations, vaccinated animals could face reproductive challenges and severe biological malformations.
The veteran politician claimed that these issues could eventually affect humans through the consumption of contaminated animal products.
“We’ve also been reliably informed by the incontrovertible scientific authority that these vaccines will alter the genetic structure of our animals; after one or two generations of vaccines up to 36 months, reproduction of new life will begin to be plagued by issues. Some of these negative side effects will eventually be passed to human populations via the eating of contaminated animal farm produce. This is completely unacceptable,” he declared
Beyond health issues, Kalonzo expressed concern about the initiative’s consequences for food security and livelihoods, claiming that it is a step toward replacing traditional farm animal food with synthetic meat.
Kalonzo asked Kenyans to oppose the scheme, urging pastoralists to safeguard their animals and reject any vaccination attempts.
“Do not allow anyone to get near your animal under the pretence of vaccination. Our food sovereignty and security are not subject to compromise. Every Kenyan, therefore, has a responsibility to aggressively oppose this cruel goal. We ask all Kenyans to remain very vigilant and not allow any agent or official of the Ruto regime to come anywhere near Kenyan cattle with this vaccine,” he appealed.
Government to vaccinate all cattle in January 2025
On Friday, November 8, Ruto promised that families who lost their livestock in the 2023 drought will be compensated.
He also pledged to ensure all livestock in the country are vaccinated to control the spread of diseases.
The president lamented that the country’s meat market had declined both nationally and internationally due to the spread of diseases, thus the need for vaccination.
