The ongoing Senate hearing on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has created hilarious memes.
What happened at Gachagua’s impeachment hearing?
Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, who tabled the motion, was on the hot seat as lawyer Elisha Ongoya cross-examined him.
Gachagua faces 11 charges, and Ongoya called the evidence presented ridiculous and embarrassing.

At one point, Ongoya taunted the legislator after seemingly being unable to read documents before him.
“It may be getting hotter, but look at the document, compose yourself, and read. What is the total number of shares in Vipingo Beach Company?” Ongoya asked.
He scrutinised the list of 22 companies cited by Mutuse, and the MP stated that they had no significant issues with most of them.
Additionally, Ongoya disputed the claim of Gachagua amassing KSh 5.2 billion in wealth since taking office in 2022.
Mutuse affirmed that he reached the figures through his calculations.
Mutuse’s struggles to respond to the questions led to memes, as Kenyans made the most of the moment.

Meanwhile, lawyer Kibe Mungai slammed President William Ruto’s push to have his deputy removed from the office.
Mungai claimed that the head of state had shown signs of weakness that could undermine his UDA Party and the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Additionally, he claimed that Ruto relies on the ODM party for his own political survival.
