Amason Kingi Calls Out Karen Nyamu for Not Being Attentive During Gachagua’s Impeachment Trial

The deputy president’s fate hangs in the balance as the Senate begins deliberating his impeachment on Wednesday, October 16, with a final decision anticipated by Thursday evening, October 17.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently facing 11 charges of alleged misconduct.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi started by outlining the guidelines for the Senate proceedings in Gachagua’s impeachment trial but noticed Senator Karen Nyamu was not paying attention.

What did Kingi say to Nyamu?

Kingi, who was deeply engaged in explaining the guidelines to the Senate, paused briefly to address Nyamu.

He requested that Senator Nyamu pay attention to the proceedings before continuing to read out the guidelines.

“Senator Karen Nyamu be attentive please,” Kingi said.

While reading his guidelines, Kingi stated that Gachagua was invited to appear before the Senate as part of the investigation into the grounds of his impeachment motion continues.

He further stated that Gachagua was obligated to respond to the charges outlined in the impeachment motion.
