Bongo star Ali Kiba has revealed why his anticipated collaboration with Amercian R&B star Ne-Yo never came to be.
The two were set to collaborate on Kiba’s hit ‘Seduce Me’ when Ne-Yo was in Kenya to record for the Coke Studio Africa. But it was Diamond Platnumz who managed to stage a coup against regional musicians when he secured a prized collabo with Ne -Yo.
According to Ali Kiba, this forced him to pull out of the collabo. He said he drop Ne-Yo when he noticed the American singer was focused on working with multiple African artistes.
Through his representative and producer Man Walter, Ali Kiba said Ne-Yo had just worked with his ‘rival’ on the song ‘Marry You’, and, he, therefore, did not want to be seen as riding on Diamond’s wave.
Man Walter added that Ne-Yo had already recorded his verse in ‘Seduce Me’, and Ali Kiba had to explain why he was doing away with it.
Kiba and Ne-Yo met in Kenya in 2015 when they featured as acts in Coke Studio Africa.
However, Diamond pulled a coup when he flew to Nairobi within a week of Ne-Yo’s arrival and booked himself at the Hemingways Hotel, in Mbagathi Ridge, Nairobi, the same hotel where the American star stayed.
Sources indicated then that Diamond was seeking to upstage Ali Kiba.
It now appears as though he did upstage him following Ali Kiba’s revelation on his failed collabo with Ne-Yo.
