Hours after the government suspended gambling advertisements across the country for 30 days, it has listed fifty-eight illegal betting sites in the country.
The Betting Control and Licensing Board ordered the immediate suspension of all gambling advertisements and testimonials across all media platforms for thirty (30) days with effect from today.
According to the board, the ban will apply to all licensed gambling operators and promotional activities aired on television, radio, social media platforms, all forms of print media, outdoor advertising, including billboards, branded transport, SMS, email campaigns, push notifications, celebrity endorsements, and influencer marketing.
At the same time, the government has listed down illegal sites operating in the country, warning Kenyans against using such sites to place their bets.
Among those sites that have been listed by the Director of Public Communications include: Cheza Crash, Skai Crash, Crash KE, Simple Crash, Aviator VIP, Aviator Pesa, Lucky Bet, Mita Sita, and Next papi.
Others are Bet 222, Win Ksh, Aviator, Pawa Crash, Pesa Chap, Pepea Pro, Casino Bonus, Cheza game, Fanuika Bet, Shinda Crash, Jumbi Tickets, and Pesa Spin among others.
The decision comes in response to growing concern over the gambling crisis in the country and its negative impact on society. This was after many Kenyans raised concerns over the recent surge in suicide cases over Aviator gambling cases.
