Bad Afternoon for Ruto as Omtatah & Six Others File a Petition to Stop Him From Doing The Following

Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has filed a new court petition aiming to stop President William Ruto’s government from taking on more loans or paying debts that are not approved in Kenya’s national budget.

Omtatah, known for his bold activism, joined forces with Dr. Magare Gikenyi, activist Eliud Matindi, and six other petitioners.

Together, they accuse the government of engaging in reckless and unconstitutional borrowing.

According to them, these financial actions could harm Kenya’s economy and burden citizens with unnecessary debts.

In their petition, they argue that the Executive is bypassing legal financial procedures.

They warn that continued borrowing without proper budget approval risks plunging the country into deeper economic trouble.

They have therefore asked the court to urgently intervene and protect public finances.

The petitioners further claim that the government’s borrowing spree violates the Constitution, which demands transparency, accountability, and responsible financial management.

They are asking the court to declare any new debts not included in the budget illegal.

This move comes at a time when Kenyans are increasingly concerned about the growing national debt and the rising cost of living.

Critics have often pointed fingers at the government’s borrowing habits, blaming them for the weakening shilling and shrinking public services.

Senator Omtatah’s action is expected to spark serious legal and political discussions around how Kenya’s finances are managed.

The court will now have to determine whether the government’s current and future borrowing practices meet the constitutional requirements.

The hearing date for the petition is yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, let’s wait and see what transpires next. Remember to follow, share, and leave your opinion in the comment section below to stay updated on our news page. Thank you for reading.
