Ruto described the Kenya-China partnership as enduring and people-focused, emphasising that it consistently yields meaningful, lasting, and mutually beneficial outcomes.
“At the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, President Xi Jinping and I witnessed the signing of 20 trade agreements and Memoranda of Understanding to promote various sectors of our economy, aligning with our Belt and Road Initiative cooperation,” he said.
“Our Chinese partners will invest significant resources to improve our road infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, blue economy, green energy, and ICT sectors, among others,” he added.
He noted that the pledges reflect China’s strong backing of Kenya’s push to expand its economy, generate employment opportunities for young people, and harness the country’s untapped potential.
How did William Ruto spend his last day in China?
Ruto concluded his four-day state visit to China with a series of engagements in Fujian province, including visits to research and cultural centres.
According to State House, Ruto began the final leg of his trip in Ningde City at the headquarters of Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited (CATL), where he praised the company’s rapid rise in the global electric vehicle battery industry.

He highlighted CATL’s role in driving the shift to clean energy and lowering carbon emissions through innovative solutions.
The president also toured the Ningde Poverty Alleviation Exhibition Hall, which showcases China’s poverty reduction strategies. Ruto told local media the initiatives reflected what could be achieved through unified leadership and modern development strategies.
“This is a clear demonstration of the possibilities that can be achieved through modernisation through coordination and synergy in leadership,” he said.
His visit wrapped up with a tour of innovation centres and cultural sites across the southeastern province.
Did Chinese govt invite Ruto to Beijing?
Ruto’s four-day state visit, held from April 22, was at the invitation of the Chinese government.
The Chinese Embassy in Kenya confirmed that the visit was arranged at the request of China’s president.
This marked Ruto’s second visit to Beijing, his first being in September 2024 for the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.
