Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has dismissed allegations that the late Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve was murdered, urging the public to wait for full investigations into the matter.
Speaking during an interview following news of the MCA’s sudden death, Sakaja cautioned against politicising the incident, describing Munuve as a firm and principled leader.
“Allow me to pass my deepest and sincere condolences to the people of Kariobangi North who lost their MCA, Joel Munuve. He collapsed at home. I don’t know why you call it murder. We have asked for a full investigation to understand what happened,” Sakaja said.
Munuve’s death has sparked concern among some residents and political observers, with a section claiming foul play. However, Sakaja insisted that no conclusions should be drawn until investigations are complete.
“I don’t think he had a history of illness. Death is not something we can play with or politicize,” he added.
He also recalled his relationship with the late MCA, acknowledging their occasional differences but also moments of unity.
“He was very firm. There were times we disagreed, but then there were times we also agreed,” Sakaja noted.
Authorities are yet to release a postmortem report, and questions surrounding Munuve’s sudden collapse at home continue to raise speculation as the family and political leaders await answers.
