Embu brothers buried at their home
Images shared online from the burial ceremony showed friends and family gathered to pay their final respects.
One of the brothers, who was a security officer, was honoured with a ceremonial display—his boots and a flag were placed on his coffin. His uniformed colleagues carried his casket to the tent where the ceremony was held, before the two brothers were laid to rest side by side.
Many mourners expressed sorrow and called for stricter measures to prevent reckless driving, particularly by miraa transporters, which they said poses a growing danger on the roads.

Netizens mourn Robert Ireri and John Murimi
Kenyans expressed sympathy and anger, demanding urgent action from authorities to prevent similar tragedies and honour the memory of the lost brothers with lasting change.
Pithon Muchoki:
“Even as we mourn, we must speak out. These kinds of accidents are becoming far too common in Embu. How many more lives must we lose before action is taken? I am calling on our leaders, traffic police, and all authorities: something must be done. Miraa pick-ups are being driven recklessly, endangering innocent lives daily. We need urgent reforms, stricter enforcement, and a genuine commitment to road safety—especially with miraa transport. We cannot keep burying our people in silence. This pain must not be in vain. May the souls of the two young brothers rest in peace.”
Muungana:
“Losing two young men is deeply sorrowful, even for the extended community. Poleni sana. We urge the authorities to enforce strict road safety measures to rein in rogue miraa drivers. No human life should be lost due to reckless driving. May justice be served.”
Ediga Macharia:
“So sad. May their souls rest in peace.”
David Mwaniki:
“Condolences to the family and friends! But our able Madam Governor is silent!”
Dan Achero Allos:
“Wishing comfort and peace to the family. Just as NTSA monitors Super Metro, they should also focus on miraa vehicles.”
Moses Njiru:
“It’s very painful. Let all of us maintain safety on the roads. Though we blame miraa drivers, many drive with precision—but some are clearly reckless.”
