The event kicked off with a colorful procession from Maralal Vocational Training Centre main road, with all participating teams marching in excitement and anticipation. This symbolic start set the tone for a day full of energy, talent, and most importantly, community spirit. Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Khaleed Abdul, the youth representative and event coordinator, lauded Governor Lati for embracing youth-friendly initiatives and staying connected to the aspirations of the younger generation. “The idea by the governor to organise a tournament is thoughtful, considering that many young people are on holiday. Such initiatives are important for making youth feel incorporated in governance,” said Khaleed. “Instead of just letting them idle, he is giving them something to keep them engaged and entertained. This undoubtedly promotes cohesion and helps to curb malpractices such as cattle rustling, banditry, and violence. We appreciate our governor.”

To add excitement and motivation, the winning team from the tournament is set to receive a cash prize of KSh 600,000.
