Notable Individuals Who Accompanied Pres Ruto for a Four-Day Tour in Beijing, China [PHOTOS]

President William Ruto has arrived in Beijing, China, for a four-day official State visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The visit is aimed at strengthening the long-standing ties between Kenya and China, especially in trade, culture, and development cooperation.

Among the notable figures accompanying the President is Senator Oburu Odinga, elder brother to opposition leader Raila Odinga.

His presence has sparked public interest, given the political rivalry between the Odinga and Ruto camps.

However, the move is being viewed by some as a sign of unity and national interest above politics.

While announcing his arrival, President Ruto said, “We are here to deepen and broaden the historical, economic, and cultural relations that have always brought Kenya and China together.”

China remains one of Kenya’s biggest development partners, having funded major projects including the Standard Gauge Railway, highways, and energy infrastructure.

During this visit, President Ruto is expected to hold high-level talks with Chinese officials to secure more investment in manufacturing, technology, agriculture, and education.

Sources also indicate that Ruto’s delegation will explore ways to improve trade between the two countries by addressing the current imbalance, which favors Chinese exports.

Senator Oburu’s inclusion in the trip signals a possfavoursffort to build bridges across political lines, as the country seeks to attract more foreign investment and partnerships.

This visit comes at a time when Kenya is looking to diversify its international partnerships while promoting national unity.

The meetings are expected to result in new agreements that could boost job creation and economic growth back home.

President Ruto will also attend a forum on infrastructure development before returning to Nairobi later this week.
