Titus Wekesa Sifuna was arrested after receiving a message from President William Ruto’s verified X account. Detectives used the account to trick him and get his contact details.

Wekesa had been posting negative comments about President William Ruto and his family using the handle @Thief_5th. His posts under the username “I Must Go” had been attracting attention for some time.

Investigators decided to reach out to him using the President’s real account as part of their plan. They offered him money, and he quickly gave out his number without checking the profile.

Wekesa believed the message was from another fake account like his. He failed to verify the source and walked right into the trap.

He was later picked up by police and taken to court. He is now facing charges over the things he posted online.

In court, it was explained how the officers used the President’s account to get him. His careless response to the message made the arrest easy for the team.

The arrest has caused debate among Kenyans on social media. Some people feel the move was unfair while others say the law must be followed.

Supporters of the government say people should stop hiding behind fake accounts to insult leaders. Others believe the government should focus on bigger issues affecting the country.

Legal experts say this could open the door to more arrests over what people post online. They also warn that such actions could affect freedom of expression.

The court is yet to decide whether Wekesa will remain in custody or be released. Investigators have asked for more time to continue their probe.

Wekesa’s case has now drawn public interest across different platforms. Many are watching closely to see how it ends.

As the matter continues in court, people are still arguing about whether the method used was right or not. The case has started wider discussions about online behavior and the law.
