Police Reveals Identity Of Trio Caught In Isiolo Floods While Crossing KMC Bridge

Search and rescue efforts continue in Isiolo County following a tragic incident on the evening of Friday, April 18, where torrential floods swept away a vehicle carrying three individuals.The Toyota Prado, bearing registration number KCC 242N, was attempting to cross KMC Bridge when it was overwhelmed by the raging waters.

According to the vehicle’s owner, David Lemantile, who also serves as a Member of the County Assembly (MCA), the car was traveling from Kipsing towards Isiolo town.

The three individuals on board were identified as Paul Gitonga, the driver; Rajuel Lemantile, and Boniface Muriungi.

Fortunately, Muriungi managed to escape unscathed by climbing out of the vehicle through the window. However, Gitonga and Rajuel remain missing as efforts by police and local volunteers intensify to locate them.

Police reports confirm that the vehicle was swept for approximately two kilometers before being recovered in a severely damaged state.

The search teams are focusing on the stretch of river downstream from the bridge, with hope of finding the missing individuals.Meanwhile, the Kenya Meteorological Department has issued an alert forecasting increased rainfall across several parts of the country in the coming days.

The weatherman has warned residents, particularly in flood-prone areas, to remain vigilant and avoid attempting to cross flooded roads or bridges.

Counties such as Kiambu, Nakuru, Kisumu, and others are expected to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

Morning rains, sunny intervals, and afternoon storms will likely persist through the week.
