A Nairobi magistrate has issued an interim injunction stopping lawyer Thomas Letangule from making or publishing any statements linking Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir to the controversial sale of a KSh 2.7 billion Kenya Railways parcel in Embakasi.

What orders did court make on Nixon Korir’s case?
Magistrate Becky Cheloti Mulemia, in an order dated April 11, restrained Letangule, his law firm, and associated parties from commenting on or disseminating alleged defamatory content regarding the disputed 93-acre parcel, identified as Nairobi/Block125/2173.

“Pending the determination of the application, the respondents—whether acting directly or through employees or agents—are barred from making further publications concerning the alleged illegal land acquisition,” the court order reads in part.
The magistrate warned that failure to comply with the order would result in penal consequences for those involved.
The court directed all parties to submit responses to the application by April 30, 2025, for further directions.
Letangule and Abdulhakim Dahir Sheikh of Dahir, Affey and Associates were listed as respondents. Before the court action, Letangule had petitioned various agencies to probe the sale, which he described as fraudulent.
Korir sought legal intervention after Letangule allegedly implicated him in facilitating the land transfer, prompting the issuance of the restraining order.
Faction of Darfur settlement welfare defends PS Korir
In a related story, a faction of the Dupoto Darfur Settlement Welfare Society has rejected accusations that KSh 2.7 billion was misappropriated during the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) compensation process.

Speaking to the media on Friday, April 18, the group’s officials, led by chairperson Likam ole Kiambu, denied claims of fraud in the Kenya Railways land deal, calling the allegations misleading and defamatory.
The group defended Nixon Korir, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, stating that his department was not responsible for the distribution of compensation funds to the beneficiaries.
They accused lawyer Thomas Letangule, representing the opposing faction, of attempting to blackmail PS Korir over the compensation process.
The faction also claimed that Letangule, who had no official record in the transaction, was not entitled to any fees related to the deal. They further accused him of using individuals outside the Dupoto Settlement Welfare Society to advance personal interests.
Earlier reports highlighted a dispute between the two factions, with the opposing group calling for investigations into several individuals, including PS Korir, over allegations of misappropriating the KSh 2.7 billion set aside for compensation following the acquisition of land in Embakasi South.
The rival group, represented by Letangule, claimed they were forcibly evicted from land they had occupied for over three decades without receiving proper compensation, and they demanded accountability from PS Korir, whom they alleged was in charge of the project.
