Ng’ang’a, who worked as a mechanic in the Kiborojo area of Subukia, was later found dead in a nearby field, according to police.
Her death has sparked outrage and sorrow within the community, with Nakuru governor Susan Kihika publicly condemning the killing.
In a statement posted to her social media accounts, Kihika described Ng’ang’a as a determined and hardworking young woman who defied gender norms by entering a male-dominated profession.
“I strongly condemn the brutal and senseless killing of Wanjiru Ng’ang’a (Shiru).. Wanjiru was a hardworking and courageous girl pursuing her passion as a mechanic in a field largely dominated by men. Her tragic death has left our community heartbroken and in mourning, leaving us with a sad Easter holiday,” Kihika’s statement read in part.
The governor urged law enforcement to expedite their investigations and bring those responsible to justice.
She also offered condolences to Ng’ang’a’s family, praying for strength and comfort during their time of grief.
“May her courage inspire us to protect and uplift every young woman daring to dream beyond barriers. May her soul rest in peace, and may the good Lord give her family strength at this most difficult time,” Kihika added.
23-year-old Nairobi woman killed, body dumped in Lang’ata
Ng’ang’a’s murder comes months after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a probe into the death of Nancy Boke, 23, whose body was discovered in a thicket near Lang’ata Cemetery.

A knife, her undergarments, and her national ID were found beside the body, according to the police.
Preliminary findings suggest Boke was physically assaulted and stabbed before her death, although it remained unclear whether she was killed at the location or her body dumped there.
Officers noted signs of a struggle at the scene, including torn clothing and strands of hair, indicating a possible confrontation.
Boke’s body was taken to the Nairobi Funeral Home for an autopsy as investigators worked to retrace her final movements and identify those she may have met prior to the killing.
Her family had been searching for her after she was reported missing.
