What Former AG Muturi Openly Told Ruto’s Govt Following Butere Girls Drama Festival Interference
News Hub Creator1h
Former Attorney General Justin Muturi has strongly criticized President Ruto’s government after the Butere Girls High School drama festival faced interference. The play, which had political messages, was either banned or blocked from being performed properly. This action has caused public anger and raised serious questions about freedom of expression in schools.
Muturi, who is also a former National Assembly Speaker, said it is wrong for the government to fear what students are acting on stage. He said stopping a school play just because it talks about politics shows that the country is not truly democratic.
He added that young people must be allowed to speak their minds and share their thoughts without fear. Schools should be safe places where students can grow, learn, and express themselves freely—not places where they are silenced.
Muturi warned that if the government keeps limiting what students can say, it will kill creativity and send a bad message to the rest of the country. He believes freedom of speech is a basic right, even for students.
