Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has distanced herself from the ongoing standoff between the Speaker of the County Assembly and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

Addressing growing tensions within the county’s legislative arm, the governor made it clear that she is not involved in the power struggle or internal disagreements facing the Assembly.

Governor Wavinya revealed that she has previously intervened to protect the Speaker from impeachment on two separate occasions, highlighting her past efforts to promote unity and stability within the county government.

However, she emphasized that it is not her responsibility to manage or mediate continuous friction in the Assembly.

The governor maintained that the Speaker must take initiative and find common ground with the MCAs for the sake of effective governance and service delivery.

Her remarks signal a call for accountability and self-responsibility among county leaders, amid heightened political wrangles that threaten to derail development in Machakos.

The dispute continues to draw attention from both local leaders and residents, concerned about its impact on county operations.
