On Sunday, 7 April 2025, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo defended the former Deputy President’s previous remarks, stating that he had consistently raised concerns over interference from close allies of the President. Ngogoyo made the statement during a political interview in Nairobi, where he addressed the recent media reports naming individuals allegedly influencing key government decisions and sidelining senior officials.

Ngogoyo recalled that even before his impeachment, the former Deputy President had accused unnamed individuals within State House of attempting to micro-manage his movements and responsibilities. “The former DP has been very consistent. Even before his impeachment, he said there were friends of the President trying to instruct him on where to go, what to do, and which itinerary to follow,” Ngogoyo stated.

The MP further noted that the names mentioned by the former DP in the past are now resurfacing in newspaper exposés, suggesting a pattern of influence that may have contributed to political rifts within the highest levels of government.

According to Ngogoyo, this consistency lends credibility to the former Deputy President’s claims and paints a troubling picture of internal power struggles. Political analysts have taken note of Ngogoyo’s remarks, viewing them as part of a broader narrative concerning accountability, transparency, and the balance of power within the current administration.

The discussion also reignites debate over the circumstances leading to the Deputy President’s impeachment and raises questions about the structure of executive authority in Kenya.

As public interest grows around the unfolding dynamics in government, MPs and political observers alike are calling for more clarity and restraint in handling internal disagreements to safeguard the integrity of the country’s democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
