Impeached Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza lives in a multi million house believed to have been built using proceeds of corruption.
Within a few months of taking office, she constructed the extravagant residence that is situated on a 20-acre plot of land. Francis Gaitho, a vocal X host, posted pictures of the house and criticized Kenyans for electing tyrannical leaders like Kawira Mwangaza. Kawira was impeached over corruption after it was established that she was diverting public funds through suspicious payments to relatives and close aides.
To find out how Ksh. 42.4 million was paid to four people in the past year, a petition was submitted to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and filed with the Senate. The case is yet to be determined.
The MCAs tried almost three times impeaching the governor but failed. The last impeachment was successful and the court upheld their decision. Current her deputy took over as the governor up to the next general elections.
