Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto following a chaotic incident during a church service on Sunday, April 6.

According to Gachagua, a group of hired troublemakers attempted to disrupt worship at PCEA Kasarani East Parish but were thwarted by his security detail.
The former deputy president expressed outrage at what he termed a disturbing escalation of political hostilities, noting that such acts have now begun infiltrating sacred religious spaces.

He questioned the government’s moral compass, saying it was disheartening to see the resort to such tactics without regard for the sanctity of the church.
Gachagua went on to claim that police officers had been given clear instructions to keep away from intervening to calm the situation. He suggested that the order came from senior police leadership, leaving only a few plain-clothes officers who offered to assist his team.

Gachagua warns of what will happen if he is brought down
In a stern warning, Gachagua said that any attempt to politically or physically eliminate him would backfire on the president. He argued that his political vision is not a solo mission but a collective cause backed by a growing number of supporters.
“The way things are running in the country, even if you eliminate Rigathi Gachagua, nothing will change, it will just complicate your politics further than it is already complicated. And we have enough soldiers to carry on with the struggle. You may bring me down if you think that is what will help you, but we have enough soldiers here to carry on with the struggle. So we welcome you to do as you wish,” Gachagua said.
The former deputy president expressed confidence that God would protect him, stating that he remains unfazed by the recent attacks directed at him.
“I have been cautious and very careful. I’ve consistently advised our young people not to retaliate. All I want is peace in this country. Even when I was impeached, I instructed people not to take to the streets or incite violence,” he said.
Gachagua urged his supporters to maintain peace, even when provoked, assuring them that the issues would be addressed during the upcoming 2027 General Election.
“Remain peaceful and obedient to the rule of law. Even if we are provoked, we must strive to restrain ourselves, and God will help us,” he added.
Who was behind Gachagua’s attack in Kasarani church?
Gachagua directly accused Ruto and Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja of being behind the chaos that unfolded during the church service.
According to Gachagua, the raid was not random but part of a broader plan by the Kenya Kwanza administration to restrict his movements and silence dissent.
He expressed outrage that such an attack would be orchestrated within a place of worship. His allies echoed his sentiments, criticising the authorities for what they termed a calculated attempt to intimidate and endanger Gachagua.
