Francis Vudohi, the father whose two young children were tragically hacked to death by their mother in Gambogi, Vihiga County, is now appealing for help to give his babies a dignified burial.

Still reeling from the horror that unfolded just days ago, Vudohi told TUKO.co.ke that he is struggling emotionally and financially.
The grieving father, who is physically challenged and relies on menial jobs to survive, says he has no land of his own and has been forced to plan for the burial of his children in a cemetery in Kisumu.
“The house I live in is rented, and I don’t make a lot of money because I do menial jobs for a living,” he shared tearfully. “I don’t even have a place to bury my children, and that pains me the most.”

Vudohi explained that he had left the house early in the morning to go and hustle.
Fateful day Vudohi lost his children
Before leaving, he had helped prepare water to bathe the baby, had breakfast, and left his 23-year-old wife washing utensils. Nothing had seemed unusual.
When he returned later in the evening, around 5 pm., he was met with a crowd of neighbors, police officers, and a nightmare he never saw coming.
“I was confused. I didn’t understand what was happening. Then a police officer pulled me aside and told me what she had done,” he recounted.
His wife had reportedly used an axe to end the lives of their two children — a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old — an act that has left the entire community in shock and mourning.
Where are Vudohi’s babies now?
The bodies were taken to Mbale Mortuary, but Vudohi says he cannot afford to keep them there for long.
With no family land to bury them and no means to buy a plot, he has settled on laying them to rest at a public cemetery in Kisumu. However, even this plan requires funds he does not have.
“I am appealing to well-wishers and organizations to help me bury my children. I never imagined something like this would happen in my life. My heart is heavy, and I have no strength left,” he said, his voice breaking.
Neighbors say Vudohi has remained calm despite the emotional turmoil, but many fear he is on the brink of a mental breakdown.
How to support Vudohi
Local leaders and residents are now calling on the county government and humanitarian organizations to intervene and support the father during this trying time.
Anyone willing to support Vudohi can reach out through the local administration offices in Vihiga or his number, 0702730717.
As investigations continue, the mother remains in police custody.
The motive behind the killings is still unclear, though some neighbors hinted that she had recently been exhibiting signs of distress.
