Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi’s prediction that President William Ruto will secure 58% of Mt. Kenya’s votes in the 2027 election has stirred up a heated debate. Speaking at a public event, Wamumbi emphasized that modern voters are more interested in development than political rhetoric. He argued that Ruto’s focus on infrastructure and local economic growth will win the region’s support.
“President Ruto will get 58% of Mt Kenya votes. These days people are wise, they look for and elect that leader with a vision and a plan, ” Wamumbi said confidently.
However, his statement has not gone uncontested. Cyprian, an avid supporter of the president, expressed agreement with Wamumbi, citing Ruto’s strong leadership and commitment to development, particularly through the construction of roads and the increased availability of healthcare in the region.
But others, like Elvis and David, were less convinced. They pointed out that while Ruto has made strides in development, winning over Mt. Kenya for the long term may not be so straightforward.
A sharp response came from Wesonga, who sarcastically pointed out that Ruto’s projected 58% support was a significant drop from the overwhelming dominance he once had in the region. “Ruto’s support in Mt. Kenya used to be almost total, now he’s fighting for just 58%. That’s a steep decline,” Wesonga noted.
