A media house, through its X handle, quoted Maraga as lauding Ruto for being a listening president, suggesting that the former head of the Judiciary was loosening his stance about proper governance.

He supposedly made the remarks on Thursday, March 27, while giving a public lecture on good governance, constitutionalism and the rule of law at Rongo University.

The tweet got the attention of the X users, who immediately began roasting Maraga for double-speak.

They wondered how the former CJ would shift from his stance on good governance to siding with the president, who is faulted for misrule.

The heat was building up, with Maraga already topping the trending topics chart.

He immediately came to clarify his sentiments, which appeared to have been an advisory and not an endorsement of the president as interpreted.

“But if I were to offer advice, I would ask him to listen to Kenyans …” Public lecture at Rongo University earlier today,” Maraga captioned the misinterpreted video.
