What Mt. Kenya Residents Told Ruto Moments He Sacked CS Muturi For Constantly Criticising His Govt

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, President William Ruto made big changes to his Cabinet. One of the most notable changes was the firing of Justin Muturi, who was serving as the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service.

Muturi, who had been in the position for only eight months, was replaced by Geoffrey Ruku. Ruku had previously served as the Member of Parliament for Mbeere North.

The reshuffle also involved other important changes. Aden Duale, who was the Environment CS, was moved to the Health Ministry, while Deborah Barasa, the former Health CS, was transferred to head the Environment Ministry.

Hanna Wendot was nominated to take over the Ministry of Gender and Culture. These new appointments are now subject to approval by Parliament. If they pass, the new leaders will officially take office.

According to a statement from State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the Cabinet reshuffle is meant to strengthen the government and ensure it continues to work towards improving Kenya’s economy and society.

The changes are designed to bring in new leadership with the experience and skills needed to tackle the challenges facing the country.

Before his appointment as Public Service CS, Geoffrey Ruku had been a Member of Parliament for Mbeere North.Here’s what Mt Kenya residents told Ruto;

He is expected to bring his knowledge and experience to the role and help improve public service delivery in the country.

Muturi, the dismissed CS, had previously been a strong supporter of President Ruto but had also criticized the government in recent months.

He accused the government of being involved in the abduction of young people in Kenya, which raised concerns.

President Ruto had also spoken about Muturi’s incompetence in handling legal matters, calling him “incompetent” during an Iftar meeting with the Muslim community on March 25, 2025.

This reshuffle comes as part of Ruto’s ongoing effort to ensure his Cabinet can effectively handle the country’s issues and continue with plans for economic growth and development.

The president is confident that the new team will help Kenya move forward and address pressing matters, including health, gender issues, and the environment.
