A rogue tout and the Super Metro Sacco are in the spotlight following the tragic death of a passenger.
Gilbert Thuo Kimani succumbed to injuries after he was thrown out of a moving bus at Kahawa Wendani along Thika Super Highway following a Sh30 fare dispute.
Passengers travelling in the same vehicle said the deceased differed with the conductor over the fare and upon reaching Kahawa Wendani, he was thrown out of the moving bus. Kimani was supposed to pay Sh80, but when he informed the tout that he is used to pay Sh50, an argument arose.
Mr Kimani sustained serious injuries after hitting the tarmac road and died instantly. The angry passengers confronted the conductor who fled for his own safety.
A postmortem examination conducted on the deceased’s body revealed he succumbed after breaking all his ribs, hands and legs.
A section of Kenyans have demanded action be taken against the vehicle. Most shared the notion that regardless of what the passenger did, throwing him out of the bus was tantamount to risking his life.
