Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has downplayed the pact between President William Ruto and his boss Raila Odinga saying the opposition will have the last laugh in the 2027 polls.
Babu said that Mr Odinga won elections in Nairobi as an opposition candidate noting that Nairobians have a tendency of voting out government candidates.
He assured locals that he will stick to the opposition and won’t follow President Ruto blindly after deal with ODM.
The MP skipped President Ruto’s event at Kamkunji Ground despite the meeting receiving the backing of majority of ODM leaders in Nairobi.
Ruto’s visit to Kamukunji, an area once regarded as the stronghold of former Prime Minister came just days after the historic signing of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) working framework.
The President assured Nairobi residents that the timing of this alliance was pivotal, underlining its importance in propelling the nation towards a brighter, more prosperous future.
Raila was treated to a hostile reception at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday, where he had gone to watch a football match.
As soon as the former Prime Minister stood to speak, he was greeted with chants of “Raila must go”.
The fans at the stadium sustained the chants, while others staged a walkout.
However, the former PM continued with his speech.
