New details have emerged regarding the brutal murder of Campbell Scott, a 58-year-old UK national, whose body was found dumped in Makongo Forest, Makueni county.

Scott, an employee of a US-based credit ratings agency, had travelled to Nairobi for a three-day business conference. However, he vanished a day after checking into the five-star JW Marriott Hotel in the capital.
On February 22, Scott’s decomposing body, wrapped in manila paper alongside ripe pineapples, was discovered by herdsmen in Makongo Forest.

Following the grim discovery, three suspects, Benard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa were identified.
Their photographs have since been published on “wanted” posters as police intensify efforts to track them down.
How did suspects in Campbell Scott’s murder trap him?
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mbusu is believed to be the ringleader of a criminal gang that preys on wealthy men, particularly foreigners.
The gang, made up mostly of family members, use female accomplices who lure victims into romantic meetups.
Once the targets arrive at these secluded locations, they are ambushed, tortured, and robbed—and in some cases, murdered.
On Sunday, February 16, Scott was captured on CCTV leaving a popular gay bar in Westlands with an unidentified man.
Detectives believe he was taken to an apartment in Pipeline Estate, where he was tortured for his bank details before being killed.

Subsequent investigations revealed that £12,000 (KSh 1.9 million) had been withdrawn from Scott’s account.
The gang has reportedly been operating for years, using dating apps like Tinder and Facebook to target victims, mainly gay men.
Key suspects in Scott’s murder arrested
Meanwhile, detectives had arrested two key suspects, Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albanus Mutinda.
Authorities requested additional time to complete their investigations, including forensic analysis and witness statements. The suspects will remain in custody at Capital Hill and Kilimani Police Stations for 21 days.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are urging the public to report any information that could assist in their arrest.
