Today, the memorial service of the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati was held at CITAM in Karen, Nairobi County. Wafula Chebukati passed away about two weeks ago in a Nairobi Hospital after being sick for a while. Wafula Chebukati was in charge of two most controversial hotly contested general elections in the country, with the first one in 2017 and the last one in 2022 before his tenure came to an end.
Speaker Moses Wetangula skipped the memorial service of Wafula Chebukati as he revealed the following to Kenyans. According to his post on X, the vocal politician from Bungoma County in Western region, said that he was represented by Ugenya Constituency Member of Parliament Hon David Ochieng during Wafula Chebukati’s Memorial Service. This clarification at least cleared the air on why he skipped such an important occasion. According to plans, Chebukati will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Trans Nzoia County.
