A family of a Nairobi businesswoman is in mourning after she collapsed and died in the morning of Saturday, March 1.
According to a report by Mike Sonko, the family of Judith Wanjiru Njenga confirmed that she collapsed while in her house in the Upper Hill area, Nairobi. It was not clear what caused her death.
Wanjiru made headlines after a her multi-billion shilling land was allegedly auctioned secretly. However, she denied that an auction took place as alleged by a company based in Nairobi.
The company lost the court battle over the disputed piece of land the Environment and Land Court ruled that the controversial plot belonged Wanjiru, who had been battling to reclaim it back.
The court stated that the company, which claimed to have bought the land in 2004 through a public auction, did not produce evidence to show that it was the registered proprietor of the property as its directors did not bring original title documents.
An attempt to evict the woman was thwarted by Sonko who was then Nairobi Senator. He intervened after hundreds of goons hired by a land grabber entered the property and started destroying and stealing property.
The deceased claimed to have been raided four times in the same property by unknown persons.
