The family of the late Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi has issued directives on how the burial will be run barring leaders from addressing mourners.
According to TUKO, the burial is scheduled for the 4th of next month, with only President William Ruto, the Church, and the family permitted to speak during the final send-off.
Others leaders including Governors, Senators, MPs, MCAs and political leaders won’t be allowed to speak to mourners.
Injendi’s family made the announcement during a requiem mass held at the family’s home in Lugusi, attended by close family members, friends, and leaders, including Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet.
However, politicians have been urged to send their condolences lastest on 3rd March.
The stern instructions were imposed to avoid repeat on what happened on 9th February during a political charged burial ceremony of retired chief Gerald Odongo in Kakamega.
During the burial, supporters of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa confronted each other forcing the family of the deceased to hurry the burial process.
The chaos resulted in injuries among attendees, including a police officer and security personnel, who had stepped in to restore order, with some left bleeding from the altercation. The officer who was left bleeding was assisted by his colleague
The situation quickly escalated into chaos as rival factions hurled chairs at each other leaving the bereaved family with additional damages to handle.
Panic ensued as mourners fled for safety while police struggled to restore order, with their efforts yielding little success.
Amidst the chaos, an individual was caught wielding two knives, suggesting a sinister intention during the melee.
Police in Kakamega on 11 Feb summoned governor Barasa, former CS Echesa and MP Peter Nabulindo
The three were to help police investigations on events that lead to a politically instigated unrest at the burial of retired chief Gerald Odongo on Saturday.
